Data Remover ("we", "our", "us") helps individuals find and remove their personal information from data brokers and people-search sites. We currently scan and monitor a network of 31 data brokers and people-search sites on your behalf. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights available to you.

This policy applies to our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories:

  • Account information: name, email address, password hash, billing details for paid plans, and communication preferences.
  • Identity and locator data: information needed to find your records across the 31 data brokers and people-search sites we track, such as legal name, aliases, current and former addresses, phone numbers, date of birth where required, and email addresses associated with you.
  • Removal activity: brokers scanned, records matched, opt-out requests submitted, broker responses, verification steps completed, and reappearance alerts.
  • Support and communications: messages you send us, feedback, and records of support interactions.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, timestamps, referral source, and diagnostic logs used to operate and secure the Service.

We collect most of this information directly from you when you sign up, complete your profile, or contact support. We also generate certain data automatically when you use the Service.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information only for legitimate business purposes related to the Service, including to:
  • create and manage your account;
  • scan our monitored network of 31 data brokers and people-search sites for records associated with you;
  • prepare, submit, and follow up on opt-out and deletion requests;
  • monitor for reappearance of your information and re-file removals when needed;
  • send service notifications, security alerts, and account-related messages;
  • process payments and manage subscriptions;
  • improve, troubleshoot, and secure the Service;
  • comply with law, enforce our terms, and respond to lawful requests.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, sell leads, or market third-party products unrelated to privacy protection.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information based on one or more of the following: performance of our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only in limited circumstances:

  • Data brokers and people-search sites: we share the minimum information necessary to locate your records across the 31 data brokers and people-search sites we track and submit opt-out requests on your behalf.
  • Service providers: trusted vendors that help us host infrastructure, process payments, send email, or provide customer support, bound by confidentiality and data-processing obligations.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, court order, or governmental request, or when necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your information.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, and protect against abuse. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After account closure, we delete or anonymize most data within 30 days, except where retention is required for billing records, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security logs, or legal compliance. Removal history may be retained in aggregated or de-identified form for service analytics.

  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;

California residents may also have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. Security

We implement technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, monitoring, and employee training. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. See our Data Security page for more detail.

10. International transfers

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards when information is transferred internationally.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
